Speargun forum days away

The past few weeks we installed a forum on Spearguns.com behind the scenes.

I’ll be working on it over the weekend and all next week. So make a note to check back in here soon. The early birds get the user names they want so choose the name you want and be ready.

Soon after the main forum is running smooth I’m adding a Local Dive Shop forum so peeps can find a shop nearest to them. You will also be able to suggest a shop too. As a way to support the site I’ll offer fair priced advertising on the main site and the forums for shops and companies. Basic listings will be completely FREE.

Speargun pictures wanted

Well I should have thought of this a while back but better late than never.

Send me pictures of yourself with fish you’ve bagged spearfishing and I’ll post them here. A picture of your speargun would be nice too. Also include a description of anything cool or unusual that happened during the dive. You can include your name too and any info you think may be interesting.

New Orleans Louisiana Oil Spill

We just wanted to give a shout out to Louisiana and the surrounding areas. The BP oil spill will hurt all types of fishing in the gulf.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected.

Used Spearguns for sale

Used spearguns for sale will be here soon. I’m doing some final behind the scenes work and should be done within two weeks.

My question to you readers is should listing used spearguns for sale be free or would a small listing fee be acceptable?

The problem with free is we may get bombarded with a lot of crap listings which will make the experience a bad one. The good thing about free is we will all see more buying and selling action her on the site.

Spear guns 101

I’ve added a new area to the site aimed at beginners to spearguns and spearfishing. When the forum is added I’ll be asking members to write posts explaining the basics of the sport and those posts will be featured on the home page for a time and then archived in the Spear Guns 101 area. Should be a great place to learn the sport and to brush up on fishing techniques.

A new year is here and I always make a few goals to get things rolling. Now is a good time to improve and advance your diving skills. For those of you that Scuba dive rather than free dive it may be good to refresh or improve your diving skills…after all your life depends on it.

PADI is the industry leader in scuba diving certification.

Many of you may not know they offer online classes for the classroom portion of certifications in Open water diver, Advanced open water diver, Enriched air diver and Instructor development.

If you didn’t notice I changed the color and layout of the site recently and took off most ads. In the near future I want to get rid of all ads and just have spaces for sale to speargun companies as direct display ads.

Traffic to this site is growing monthly and we’re just getting started.

I attended a web design conference in Chicago last week to get ideas for this site. I met people that own sites like skis.com there and got some great ideas for spearguns.com. Some of the top web people in the world were there putting on sessions and I’m really pumped at what this site can become.

A used speargun sales forum is on the hot list where you can buy and sell used spear guns and scuba equipment. I think I may charge a small fee to list like 50 cents just too keep a lot of the spam out and 50 cents is really nothing.

Also on the hot list will be a FREE newsletter that gives people that sign up discounts and first notice of speargun deals and news.
